This past Sunday we launched a new season in our partnership with Asia's Hope and we want to invite you to be part of it.
Central Vineyard has walked alongside Asia's Hope for almost our entire existence. We were one of the first churches to embrace their home-sponsorship model, directly supporting a children's home for years, and some years ago we shifted to sponsoring the Battambang Student Center, which provides housing and care for about 80 young adults pursuing higher education, many of whom are now working in healthcare, government, church planting, and more.
Now we're taking a next step. Alongside our sustained support of the Student Center, we're inviting our whole church into a new commitment: partial sponsorship of a currently unsponsored children's home right next door to the one CV sponsored for years. It's an invitation for a new generation at Central Vineyard to pick up this work and carry it forward for the years to come.
On Sunday we heard from Savorn, Asia's Hope's Cambodia national director, who spoke about loving and caring for vulnerable kids. He grounded his words in James 1:27:
"Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself unstained by the world."
Caring for orphans and the vulnerable isn't a nice idea for people with extra time or resources, it's essential to what it means to follow Jesus. That conviction is what's driving this next chapter.
We're inviting the congregation to prayerfully consider a monthly or one-time gift toward this new sponsorship. Our goal is to raise $1,200 a month in new commitments to this work. If you're already giving to Asia's Hope, this might be an invitation to increase that commitment. If you've never given before, this is a great place to start. Pledge cards are available at the info wall, or you can click here to set up a recurring gift online right now.
We'll share updates on this campaign over the next several weeks, including a fuller check-in as part of our August teaching series on biblical justice.
We're grateful for Savorn and Sony's life and witness, grateful for nearly two decades of partnership with Asia's Hope, and genuinely excited for what's ahead. Thank you for praying with us, and for considering how God might invite you to be part of this next chapter.
